Walking Dead game shuffles past Australia

The upcoming game based on TV IP The Walking Dead will not be released in Australia or New Zealand.

But this time it’s not the fault of the strict Aussie censors – well, not directly at least.

Developer Telltale has admitted that it didn’t even bother submitting the game for certification in the region, fearing it already knew what decision would be made.

"Due to the OFLC ratings laws in Australia and New Zealand, and the fact that this is a mature game, we do not currently have plans to release the game there on consoles,” it said on its forums.

Many publishers have previously agreed to amend elements of their titles to appease censors, meaning the game is released in a region-specific state.

Bethesda famously changed the international release code of Fallout 3 so it could release a game that would largely pass all international content controls.
