Warner reveals pair of free-to-play Hobbit titles

Upcoming Hollywood outing The Hobbit is to get the free-to-play game treatment.

Warner has revealed a pair of titles – The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth for mobiles and Hobbit:Armies of the Third Age for web browsers. Both are due for release in autumn of this year, with the film itself due out in December.

They are being developed by Kabam and both are described as multiplayer strategy games.

We are very pleased to work with Kabam in creating immersive free-to-play online games on massive scales across multiple platforms,” Warner’s senior VP of digital games Greg Ballard stated.

Kabam’s Armies of the Third Age and Kingdoms of Middle-earth will be an excellent way for The Hobbit film fans around the world to delve more into the iconic story and interact with the characters in the universe.”
