Wii sales top 3m in Japan

Japanese magazine publisher Enterbrain reports that Nintendo’s Wii has sold 3.01 million units in Japan, with the DS topping 18 million, according to Reuters.

Both consoles have broken sales records in a short period of time – with Wii launching on December 2nd last year in the territory and DS launching over two years earlier in 2004.

The news comes off the back of ChartTrack’s half year report, which showed that sales of Nintendo consoles had made up more than 50 per cent of UK hardware sales so far this year.
