World Cyber Games re-brands and re-launches in Australia

Triumph Leisure Solutions (TLS) has acquired the World Cyber Games (WCG) brand and plans to open e-sports up to a broader community, while raising the level of the competitions themselves.

For the last few years, various Australian owners of the brand haven’t been able to bring the event to the heights it could reach.

Blake Harris, managing director of TLS, commented: TLS are committed to growing WCG to a level we can all be proud of, broadening the audience and growing the awareness while still keeping respectful of the core players.”

Andrew Pender, Australian Starcraft II representative for FXOpen e-sports, said: WCG had definitely faded hard after 2004, but it feels like it’s been reborn with this new company running it.”

TLS has also created Save Point, a TV Show to complement the WCG’s new direction, and have brought Jeremy ‘Junglist’ Ray (former host of Good Game) on board to co-host the show and oversee the competitions.
