Xbox 360 SmartGlass app launches this week

The release of the Xbox SmartGlass app will coincide with the launch of Windows 8 on 26th October, Microsoft has announced.

The app will initially be available for download on Xbox 360, and will subsequently be made available for smartphones and tablets. Once that happens, you’ll be able to control various aspects of the Xbox 360 UI from your portable device or PC.

As revealed on Major Nelson’s blog, these functionalities include dashboard and app navigation and Internet Explorer control, like text input, scrolling and pinch and zoom”.

The Xbox SmartGlass app will be free for Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, iOS and Android devices, allowing you to use those devices as a second screen for the Xbox 360.

Xbox Smartglass will support games like Dance Central 3 and Forza Horizon in the coming months”.

The app will also support various sports and entertainment apps, although these are not available for Indian Xbox 360 users.
