Microsoft’s Xbox One was the big winner in the US throughout last Friday’s Black Friday sales, a brand agency claims.
InfoScout reckons that Xbox One accounted for 62 per cent of games console hardware sales throughout the key shopping day.
The news wasn’t all bad for PS4, however, whose 31 per cent share was significantly up from last year’s 15 per cent. Xbox 360, meanwhile, enjoyed a bigger market share than Wii U with shares of nine per cent and six per cent.
The data comes from over 180k receipts from major retailers including Walmart, Target, Best Buy, GameStop, RadioShack, and others.
Over 90 per cent of console purchases on Black Friday were bundled with a game, with 75 per cent of buyers saying that the included title was a major influence in their decision to fork out.
Certainly in the UK there seemed to be more pricing activity surrounding Xbox One than PS4 last Friday, and both were significantly more visible than Wii U.
