Xbox Plants vs Zombies heading to retail

The popular iPhone and PC casual strategy game Plants vs Zombies will be heading to Xbox 360 this September.

Consumers will be able to purchase a boxed edition of the game or download it from Xbox Live for 1,200 Microsoft Points – around 10. PopCap also confirmed retail versions of Zuma and Peggle will hit stores later this year.

Plants vs Zombies on Xbox 360 boasts seven game modes including a range of features exclusive to the console. Gamers have access to 21 mini-games, two multiplayer modes – co-op and versus – and 12 unlockable achievements.

The news comes following suggestions that the Xbox 360 port would include a previously unannounced co-op option.

With a ton of new features and content exclusive to the XBLA version, we’ve pulled out all the stops to both expand and optimise this adaptation for a hardcore gaming audience,” said PopCap’s head of worldwide studios Ed Allard.

The two new multiplayer modes allow gamers to work cooperatively to defeat hordes of invading zombies, or go head-to-head in a true ‘Plants vs Zombies’ challenge.”

A fixed release date for the game has not yet been announced. PopCap says a game of the year edition will also arrive on PC and Mac later this year – bundled with a zombie figurine.
