Yakuza 6 debuts at No.1 in Japan, Final Fantasy XV drops 90%

Yakuza 6 has gone straight in at No.1 in Japan this week, according to data from Famitsu.

The PS4 exclusive isn’t due in Europe until 2018, but Sega’s highly anticipated open world game sold 201,211 units in its first week. Naturally, PS4 hardware sales continued its lead from last week, but saw a slight 16 per cent dip in sales week-on-week.

Pokmon Sun and Moon remain at the number two spot this week, selling a combined total of 181,594 copies between them. That’s a 19 per cent drop from last week. However, New Nintendo 3DS LL and 2DS sales continued to gain ground, seeing a respective 14 per cent and 87 per cent rise week-on-week.

Meanwhile, Final Fantasy XV dropped down to No.4 this week, selling 72,545 units – a drop of almost 90 per cent.

There were plenty of new titles in this week’s charts as well. The Last Guardian on PS4 made its debut at No.5, shifting 68,368 units, while Nintendo’s Miitopia on 3DS shifted 28,321 units in its first week, putting it at No.6. Sega’s Puyo Pop Chronicle on 3DS came in at No.7, selling 16,357 units.

Watch Dogs 2 dropped to No.8 this week, shifting 15,672 units. That’s a drop of 66 per cent from last week.
