Ubisoft has confirmed that new IP 1666 was part of the firm's $2.5m acquisition of THQ Montreal.
The mysterious new IP is predicted to be a historical story – perhaps based around the Great Fire of London – but little is known about the title. It was being headed-up by former Ubisoft and Assassin's Creed veteran Patrice Dsilets.
In fact, THQ Montreal features a number of former Ubisoft staff. But the publisher would not be drawn on the future of the studio's employees.
"The unannounced title being developed by THQ Montreal is included in the acquisition," the firm told MCV in a statement. "We're not going to comment on individual employees, but we are very excited about THQ Montreal becoming part of Ubisoft."
Meanwhile, the company has high hopes for its South Park game, which is already nearing completion. The firm acquired that from THQ for $3.265m.
The South Park TV series has long been one of the most highly-rated animated sitcoms and has built up a huge and loyal fan following. Thanks to the work of Trey Parker, Matt Stone and the team at Obsidian, we are confident that South Park: The Stick Of Truth will be a hit that will be every bit as brazenly fun as fans would expect."
