$20,000 Call of Duty World League tournament taking place at the Gfinity Arena next month

Gfinity has announced the Gfinity CWL Summer Masters, a $20,000 Call of Duty tournament featuring the top teams from across Europe.

The competition will take place at the Gfinity Arena in Fulham Broadway between July 1st and 3rd and will feature a mix of invited teams and those that make it through the open qualifiers. Each match will be a best of five, except for the final that will be a best of seven.

The sign ups for the open qualifiers kick off later this week. Winning an online qualifier will net you a slot at the finals, but they are only open to European residents that are over 18 years old.

For those who don’t have the skills to make it through the qualifiers, spectator tickets for the event will be on sale soon, with more details coming in the next few days. Of course all the action will be streamed, meaning every play of every game will be watchable from the comfort of your own home.

Alan ‘Bricetacular’ Brice, Oliver ‘ReL’ Whitfield and Chris Tunn have already been confirmed to be a part of the broadcast team, with more names coming soon.

Last month Gfinity’s Martin Wyatt told eSports Pro that the company was working on a Call of Duty event, saying: As the CoD World League moves through its second and final stage we are looking to support that process by springing up our first Call of Duty event of the year. We have been away from Call of Duty for a little while, I think a lot of people thought we had turned our back on it, we hadn’t. Like other games it’s all about picking your moments, it’s not necessarily doing events for the sake of having and events and getting involved in this land grab that some eSports companies are determined to dominate.”
