New release Godus Wars has taken less than 24 hours to run into bother.
Peter Molyneux and his studio 22Cans announced and released its second Godus title yesterday. The Early Access game costs 10.99 to download and includes the original Godus – which itself has yet to exit Early Access. Owners of the first game and Kickstarter backers can get the new title for free.
Eurogamer reports that players soon discovered that upon completing the game's first continent, those wishing to progress to the second were asked to pay an additional $4.99.
The game's Steam listing does state that only the first continent is included and that the second is a ‘premium add-on'.
However, 22Cans – not wanting to irk an already irritable fan base – has now removed the pay wall and offered the second continent for free.
It's been brought to our attention that the extra content being a premium add-on really isn't a popular choice,” 22Cans CEO Simon Phillips responded.
Whilst we think that it does represent good value, especially considering that Godus Wars has been delivered as a free update to hundreds of thousands of users and the lower purchase price of the main game, we understand previous Godus owners frustrations with this.”
