2K embraces Xboxs new family audience

The first Carnival Games title developed for Kinect will be just as big a hit as its Wii and DS predecessors, says 2K Games.

The franchise debuted on Nintendo formats in 2007 and has sold over 7m copies worldwide to date.

The original is one of the best-selling third party Wii titles of all time. And next month, 2K brings its series to the Xbox 360 with the Kinect exclusive Carnival Games: In Action.

The title – published under the 2K Play label – once again features a series of mini-games based on fun fair amusements, but this time fully tracks players’ body movements.

2K is confident the right audience is in place for Carnival Games to make the same impact on Kinect.

Carnival Games was successful on Wii because it connected with consumers instantly – everyone loved it,” said 2K’s UK marketing manager Simon Turner. With the Xbox 360 now having entered the family and casual games sphere with Kinect, we think our brand is perfect for that audience. We absolutely believe that Kinect families will love this game.”

Microsoft’s general manager of Xbox marketing Matt Barlow added: We’re thrilled 2K Play has re-imagined the top-selling Carnival Games universe to take advantage of Kinect’s technology.”

Carnival Games: In Action will be released for Xbox 360 on April 15th.

A Carnival Games sampling tour will be travelling to key shopping centres throughout Easter:
Nottingham Victoria Centre: April 15th – 17th
Birmingham Bullring: April 18th – 20th
Milton Keynes Centre: April 21st – 23rd
Westfield, London: April 26th – 28th
