30p game offer leads Nintendo’s retro download service campaign

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the NES console, Nintendo will sell a bunch of games for 30p each starting this month.

Although the anniversary promo is designed to acknowledge the firm’s 30 years of hardware heritage, the low cost will help attract more to Nintendo’s sometimes nascent download offer.

One NES or Super NES game will be available each month from, now through to July for 30p (or 30 cents in the US and Europe).

Each game will be available at that price for 30 days – the first is the NES game Balloon Fight, which is now available in the Nintendo eShop for Wii U.

The cheap game offer was just one part of a range of announcements Nintendo made today in its Nintendo Direct web broadcast for fans.
