Medal of Honor needs to sell at least three million copies before a sequel is commissioned.
That’s according to the game’s executive producer Greg Goodrich, who told the New York Times that if the eagerly awaited FPS doesn’t meet EA’s sales expectations: I’m not going to be able to do another one”.
The interview also revealed that the game was originally called Medal of Honor: Anaconda, based on a failed 2002 operation in Afghanistan.
A former armed services member working as a consultant on the game said: We thought it hit a little too close to home… [and would] put a sour taste in our brothers’ mouths.”
Medal of Honor has already come under fire from Defence Secretary Liam Fox over its playable Taliban faction in the multiplayer mode.
