Activision and Tony Hawk working on new project

Tony Hawk is back. Well, he’s coming back, anyway, with talks between himself and Activision having been confirmed.

"Activision can confirm that they have something in the works with Tony Hawk,” the publisher told IGN. More info is coming soon."

Hawk earlier this week stated in a radio interview that he’d been doing motion capture for a new game, prompting Activision to go official.

It’s easy to forget that the Tony Hawk series was once one of the most influential in the industry before its sudden decline.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater debuted in 1999 although it was arguably not until the classic Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 in 2001 that the series cemented itself as one of the greats.

The series enjoyed more mixed success through the 2000s but bailed out in a big way following Activision’s decision to chase the peripherals-based success of Guitar Hero by introducing a motion control device in Tony Hawk: Ride.

2010’s Tony Hawk: Shred was the last ‘proper’ instalment, although the series has enjoyed some digital success since.
