Adrian: ‘My signing bonus was my last year’s salary’

Adrian Ma, the first collegiate scholarship player to move to theesportspros, is laughing. It’s the first weekend of theLeagueChampionship Series(LCS) Spring Split and Ma has a lot to be happy about. His team,Immortals, just won the fastest game in LCS history, an 18-minute thumping of his former team (the same one that benched him at the end of the last season). But there’s a lot more behind his smile than on-field success.

During the offseason, salaries reached record levels inLeague of Legends. Money poured into the league as outside investors looked at the LCS and sought to make an impact by paying for top talent, especially in North America.
