Sega has confirmed portable side-scrolling shooter Aliens: Infestation will be released in the UK this September.
The publisher says it’s an action-packed platform shooter with a hardcore, retro feel”. Based on Aliens, the second instalment in the horror sci-fi movie franchise, the game lets players fire weaponry from the film such as flamethrowers and pulse rifles.
Gamers can recruit up to 20 other marines which have all been designed by comic artist Chris Bachalo. The storyline will change depending on which characters are recruited by the player. Sega has likened the gameplay to that of classic Metroid and Castlevania games.
Sega will also be publishing Aliens: Colonial Marines on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in spring 2012, which is currently in development at Gearbox Software.
Another Sega-published Alien game is also in production at The Creative Assembly. It’s an action title that could be released on the next generation of consoles.
