Allure publisher leaves to edit CNET

Seamus Byrne, publisher and managing editor of technology (Kotaku, Gizmodo and Lifehacker) at Allure Media is leaving to become editor of CNET Australia.

Byrne took on his role at Allure (after previously having had a stint in 2007 as the editor of Gizmodo) in early 2010.

He had previously made frequent appearances on Sunrise and The Morning Show covering technology, and has won multiple Australian IT Journalism awards.

Byrne told MCV: "I genuinely love the team and the websites. The place is really fired up for a great year ahead. So it’s been very hard to leave. But CNET is the biggest game in town, so it was too good an opportunity to ignore."

This year marked the first time Allure’s sites had won any Microsoft Annual IT Journalism awards, taking four awards including Gizmodo and Kotaku winning ‘best title’ in their respective categories.
