Yesterday, we published a list from Amazon that revealed the games that enjoyed the biggest pre-order spikes during Gamescom.
Project CARS and Wii U apparently performed best in terms of percentage increases. Of course, although that shows the latest movers and shakers, it doesn’t really mean anything in terms of what games were actually pre-ordered the most.
So we asked Amazon for that list. And Amazon obliged.
The below Top Ten is for the UK only, and is the most pre-ordered games during the Gamescom week (August 10th to August 17th).
As you can tell, it’s not remotely surprising. FIFA 15 is No.1, No.2, No.3 and No.4. That’s to be expected when you consider FIFA (in the years when GTA is not released) is the most popular game in the UK. A mild observation is that the PS4 version was the best-selling SKU for FIFA 15 last week. That is despite the game appearing during Xbox’s press conference, and a host of extras being exclusive to the Xbox versions. However, PS4’s install base is quite a bit higher than Xbox One’s, so really it’s not a surprising result.
After the FIFAs are out of the way, it’s the second most popular game in the UK (when GTA isn’t released) that comes up next – Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The Xbox One version of the game is No.5, with the PS4 version at No.6. Call of Duty was also on the Xbox stage at Gamescom, and there is a DLC agreement between Activision and Microsoft for that game, as well.
The only thing missing is that the Call of Duty games for PS3 and 360 didn’t make the charts. But seeing as those versions have yet to be shown to anyone, that’s also not really surprising.
After the FIFA and CoD dominance, The Sims 4 comes in at No.7. Rare to see a PC game in the boxed pre-order charts, but then The Sims is not an ordinary PC series. And it has frequently sold best at retail.
