Amazon wants to pay customers to deliver parcels

Retailer Amazon has announced a new scheme that will see people earning between $18-$25 an hour to deliver parcels to customers.

‘Amazon Flex’ requires only that members have their own car and own Android phone. Drivers will be delivering packages ordered through Amazon’s new same-hour Prime delivery service.

Those wishing to take part are able to pre-register their availability in two, four or eight hour blocks on the same day or up to 12 hours on future days. There is no minimum hours requirement.

The scheme has already launched in Seattle and will soon be rolled out to Manhattan, Baltimore, Miami, Dallas, Austin, Chicago, Indianapolis, Atlanta, and Portland.

There’s no word yet on when Flex will roll out to the UK, although Amazon introduced some of its other services to this market – it currently offers Sunday Prime delivery, for instance.
