AMD reveals new virtual reality tech LiquidVR

Graphics card manufacturer AMD has revealed its VR software development kit.

The SDK is called LiquidVR and is designed to deal with some issues virtual reality has had thus far, including motion sickness.

The way AMD is doing this is low-latency head tracking – in short ensuring that a player's movements are translated in the game as quickly as possible. The firm claims that it has its motion-to-photon latency to less than ten milliseconds.

LiquidVR is also focusing on making games as realistic as possible. AMD is doing this by providing 'powerful interfaces' so that developers can make the most of the hardware.

Furthermore, the tech is going to be compatible with a variety of virtual reality devices.
