Asda has claimed that it is buying entertainment stock at the same rate as it did before EUK – its exclusive supplier – went into administration.
Asda general manager for music, video and gaming Ferghal Gara told MCV:
It's business as normal at Asda this Christmas thanks to the contingency plans we put in place. I am confident to say that we are now back to the levels we were before EUK went into administration. We've worked round the clock to make sure customers aren't disappointed in the lead up to Christmas.”
Tesco has also boasted of a strong outlook in the face of losing a wholesale partner.
Despite previously having its book stocks supplied by EUK, a spokesperson told MCV:
While our books and some online fulfilment have up to now been supplied by Entertainment UK we do have our own supply chain for music, DVD and games, meaning we are able to cover any potential shortfall.”
