Assassin’s Creed III "to look next-gen on current gen"

A host of new game announcements to keep the Xbox 360 fire burning far ahead of E3? Whether that screams of a next-gen announcement at E3 at June or not is purely down to your discretion.

But it’s certainly of interest to note that execs at Ubisoft have been keen to stress that upcoming this-gen release Assassin’s Creed III with exhibit qualities of next-gen-ness.

"It’s a scary thing to say, but I think the goal was to look next-gen on current-gen," creative director Alex Hutchinson said in the latest issue of Game Informer, as reported by CVG.

Huthinson also went on to detail the reason behind the dramatic change of setting in the new game, which amongst other things will see sections set in forests.

"We have this goal to do something completely new, but still remain true to the franchise," he added.

"People want that familiarity, but also something radically new. So we have the familiar pillars of fighting, navigation, and social stealth, but brand new environments and brand new ways to use them and extend them."
