Aussie Minister wants We Dare review

Months after the game originally hit the headlines, Ubisoft’s We Dare has once again ignited the spark of controversy.

The game went unnoticed for months earlier this year until Ubisoft went live with what some – although certainly not MCV – felt to be controversial trailer for the Wii title.

Following some quite astonishing coverage in the likes of The Sun, Ubisoft eventually ditched plans to publish the title in the UK.

Now Australia’s federal minister for Home Affairs Brendan O’Connor has urged authorities in the country to reevaluate the PG rating handed to the game earlier in the year.

"I asked the Classification Board to review We Dare following media reports that the game’s PG rating may be inappropriate," he told GameSpot.

"I believe that this game is unsuitable for children and I look forward to the outcome of the Classification Board’s review of its PG rating. I share the concern of many parents that children may be inadvertently playing games that are more suited to adult gamers."

The review will begin tomorrow (June 17th). It’s worth noting that Ubisoft had originally advised against the game receiving an M (Mature) rating in the territory as no sexual behaviour is ever displayed in the title.

"The game contains mild sexual references that are discreetly implied and justified by the context. There is a sexual tone to the gammon the original report concluded."
