Batman: Arkham VR is coming to Vive and Rift

Rocksteady’s popular PlayStation VR launch title Batman: Arkham VR will be arriving on other virtual reality platforms later this month.

The game will be released on both HTC Vive and Oculus Rift on April 25th. The motion controllers for both systems will be supported.

Arkham VR differs from Rocksteady’s other Batman titles in that the emphasis is very much placed on detective work rather than brawling or darting about in the Batmobile. The PSVR version also uses a teleport system, albeit one that’s dressed up as Batman’s grappling gun. Presumably the same locomotion will feature in these new adaptations.

Batman’s gadgets are plucked from his utility belt, which players can see when they glance down. The height of the belt can also be adjusted for added realism.

Batman: Arkham VR costs 15.99 on PSN, although how much it will cost on Steam (or either the Vive or Oculus hubs) remains to be seen.

Bringing Batman to VR was a very rewarding experience for us here at Rocksteady,” the developer’s creative director Sefton Hill said. The Dark Knight has always been an incredible character to work with due to his psychological depth, so it’s really exciting to use this immersive medium to delve deeper into his psyche than ever before.

We’re thrilled that PC players can finally wear the cowl for themselves and take on the role of the World’s Greatest Detective with the addition of the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift versions.”

The title reviewed pretty well on PS4, with a current Metacritic average of 75 per cent.
