BBC reveals free-to-play Strictly Come Dancing game

Strictly Come Dancing: The Game. It’s real. And it’s free to play. And you can play it now.

It may not be as obvious and natural a fit as the BBC’s other gaming license – Doctor Who – but as BBC Worldwide digital entertainment and games boss Robert Nashak observes: Strictly’s Dancing with the Stars brand is a global pop culture phenomenon and developing this game has been a major initiative for our business.

We’ve tried hard to create a fun and authentic experience that fully engages players in everything that it takes to be a celebrity contestant on the show.”

The game stars some of the series’ pro dancers, including Artem Chigvintsev, Natalie Lowe and Pasha Kovalev. Avatars can be customized and different dances learnt.

Richard Halliwell, the commercial director of the BBC’s US show Dancing With the Stars, added: Helping Strictly fans who may be suffering from withdrawal symptoms when the show is off-air here in the UK is our goal here at BBC Worldwide.

In addition to rolling out brand extensions such as cruises and an intimate live UK theatre show this summer, the Strictly Keep Dancing online game offers fans a really accessible and exciting way to interact with the brand during the dancing dry spell.”

You can try the game at StrictlyKeepDancing.com
