Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night delayed by a year to 2018

One of crowdfunding’s biggest gaming successes has seen its release date pushed back by a whole year.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, which is being made by Koji Igarashi and is dubbed as a spiritual successor to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, had been due out in 2017. Now, however, it won’t see the light of day until the first half of 2018.

Additional developers are being drafted into the project to ensure that the game meets the desired standards at launch, and not at some stage in the post-release period.

The last thing I want to do is keep our backers waiting, but after receiving such incredible support, I feel responsible for delivering the best product I possibly can,” Igarashi said. Again, I offer my sincerest apologies.”

Bloodstained broke Kickstarter records last summer when it became the then largest backed game ever on Kickstarter, although this record was later broken by Shenmue 3.
