Bugbear’s Next Car Game makes $1m in one week on Steam Early Access

While releasing a game early doesn’t always reap rewards, it certainly has for racing specialist Bugbear.

The studio has announced that its Next Car Game title made over $1m in its first week of availability on Steam Early Access, aping the success of Early Access forerunners such as Day, Rust and Starbound.

This is an amazing success for a racing game, especially considering our tough road to the success,” a Bugbear statement said. Along the way we pitched the game to numerous publishers in the hopes that the game would eventually get released. Unfortunately we receive the same response all over again – there were no market for a game like ours.

Thanks to our awesome fans, we finally have a chance to make the game we always intended and shape it into a definite demolition racing experience the players have been yearning for years.”

Next Car Game fell short of its Kickstarter goal, raising just $82k of its $359k goal back in November.
