EA’s upcoming console shooter Bulletstorm – which is coming under an increasing level of media scrutiny – has been granted a release in Germany, though the game has had to undergo heavy content cuts to satisfy regulators.
It will carry a USK 18+ certificate and will not include the blood, dismemberment or ragdoll effects seen in the full version of the game, GamesIndustry reports.
Germany is a notoriously tough region in which to publish overtly adult games, with both Call of Duty: Black Ops and Medal of Honor both having to endure the censor’s knife in in an effort to gain a retail release.
At one stage the country was even pondering an outright ban on such titles, though the idea was eventually overturned.
