Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare disk required to play CoD 4 remastered

Anyone hoping to play the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare remaster will need to have the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare disk inserted into their console in order to do so.

This of course only impacts those that play on Xbox One or PS4 and buy the boxed version of Infinite Warfare, as this would be impossible to enforce for those that buy the game digitally.

The news was first spotted by Charlie Intel, who noticed that the following statement was on the website for the remaster.

Modern Warfare Remastered is a full game download (game disc must be inserted to play Modern Warfare Remastered).”

The news has yet again angered fans who want to play the remaster, many of who do not wish to also play Infinite Warfare. But with the remaster only being available as part of the Infinite Warfare special editions, the move is not all that surprising, otherwise fans could have purchased the game to get access to CoD 4 and then sold Infinite Warfare.

Some members of the press have already been playing the campaign from Modern Warfare Remastered, and have revealed that the initial download is 39.18GB on PS4, although it becomes playable at 10.61GB.

Anyone who has pre ordered the digital Legacy Edition of Infinite Warfare on PS4 will be able to play the remastered campaign from CoD 4 from October 5th.
