Canada's game industry sees significant growth over past two years - ESA

Game development studios in Canada are on the rise, according to new data published by the country's ESA chapter.

The Entertainment Software Association of Canada's research shows the industry has risen 24 per cent over 2013, growing to 20,400 people employed by 472 individual studios throughout the region. Though it's worth pointing out that 24 studios staff a minimum of 100 employees and make up 91 per cent of those employed.

Also of note: over 50 per cent of these developers are located in Quebec – a province that provides significant financial incentives to game studios.

The ESAC adds that the industry's contribution to the Canadian GDP for this year has increased to $2.25bn (USD). Here's the infographic included in the report:
