Following comments made to a French website earlier this week questioning future development of software on the Wii, Capcom has released a statement assuring the industry that it remains a multi-platform developer.
The Wii is very difficult, with an oversupply of games and a gamer market that has radically changed,” Capcom France’s director general Antoine Seux stated.
The Wii customer has turned into a much broader audience. It is a disappointment. The Wii is still an important part of sales, but growth is on both Sony and Microsoft’s platforms. The Wii console is very much a family commitment. For us, Capcom, the future is the PS3 and the Xbox 360.”
However, a statement released today reads: Further to comments made in a recent article on French website Gamekult, Capcom would like to confirm its commitment as a multi-platform developer and publisher of interactive software.”
