Having deactivated its servers only hours after going live, Capcom has now put a complete temporary stop to the Street Fighter V PS4 beta.

The beta went live early this morning but has been beset with connectivity problems from the off. The servers were taken offline around an hour after launch, and were then reactivated a little later.

However, the publisher has now turned the whole lot off and it sounds as if the wait could last days rather than hours.

We apologise for the ongoing issues that users have been experiencing with the SFV beta test,” Capcom said. In order to allow us to fix the issues as quickly as possible, we are going to initiate a period of extended maintenance, during which time the beta will be unavailable to all users.

We will let you know the date on which the closed beta test will re-open once all problems have been fixed. We sincerely apologise for having to bring this unfortunate news to you. Thank you for your patience.”

Two additional characters – Cammy and Birdie – were due to be added to the beta tomorrow. The beta had been due to run until July 28th although Capcom said this will now be extended.

Street Fighter V is a PS4 console exclusive. It will also be released on PC.
