Former Windows Phone exclusive DoDonPachi Maximum is to be released on iOS this week.
Cave's shooter will also be the first title from the studio to feature iPhone 5 optimisation, making full use of the increased screen real-estate offered on Apple's latest handset.
That's not the only way in which the game differs from other Cave smartphone releases either – it's also the first wholly original shooter developed specifically for the platform, rather than being ported from the arcades or console.
It also ditches the virtual buttons of other titles in favour of gesture control.
It's due for release on October 26th and will cost 4.99. That's a big improvement over the increased prices Cave has charged for its most recent releases.
The price will increase to 7.99 as of October 29th.
