Charity event One Special Day returns; 57 industry partners attached

The third annual One Special Day event’s 2018 edition is set to be bigger than ever, with over 50 developers, publishers, retailers, and other games industry-focused companies signed on to help the charitable event.

One Special Day was set up by Special Effect a few years back, and asks those participating to donate revenue from sales for a single day – this year September 28 – to the charity so it can continue its positive work around the world of gaming.

Since beginning in 2016, One Special Day has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds – all of which has gone back in to Special Effect and helped it to enable gamers with disabilities get the most from their consoles and PCs via special, custom-built controllers and hardware.

So far, One Special Day has 57 partners signed up to support the charity drive’s efforts, with the likes of Sega, Rovio, Supercell, Bossa, Game, Media Molecule, Overclockers UK, UKIE, and TIGA all chipping in in one way or another.

It’s not just donating sales revenue – studios like nDreams are running gaming tournaments, hosting cake sales, and running a themed quiz in support of the event. When it comes to the actual games donating revenue, there’s some big hitters in the world of mobile with the likes of Clash of Clans, Angry Birds 2, Talking Tom, and 8-Ball Pool all contributing.

Insert Coin, meanwhile, is selling a special edition tshirt to tie in with One Special Day, with all profits going to the charity. Isn’t giving nice?
