Club Nintendo is closing

Wii U and 3DS platform holder Nintendo is scrapping its Club Nintendo loyalty program.

Up to this point all Nintendo hardware and software came with a registration code that could be redeemed to gain virtual Stars. These could then be used to claim a selection of rewards from PC wallpapers to 3DS charging cables or other assorted collectibles.

All Stars not redeemed by September 30th 2015 will be lost and all Club Nintendo services terminated. Product registration cards will stop being included with Nintendo products from April 1st, then from April 20th games downloaded from the eShop will no longer register on the service.

The New 3DS and New 3DS XL will not be registerable.

Nintendo says it is working hard to create a new programme” that it intends to launch later this year. Those who sign up to the new scheme will get a free digital copy of 3DS title Flipnote Studio 3D.
