The 14th ceremony of the British Academy Games Awards will see Dara O’Briain making a return to hosting duties.

It will be the eighth time the comedian hosts the ceremony. The last time O’Briain hosted the BAFTA was in 2016 - before that, he hosted the awards for six consecutive years from 2009 to 2014. Last year’s BAFTA was hosted by comedian Danny Wallace.

In addition to this announcement, BAFTA revealed that the ceremony will be live on all major streaming platforms for the first time, including BAFTA’s Twitch, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and Mixer. In partnership with IGN, the evening will also be livestreamed to an additional 12 platforms, including PS4, Xbox, Amazon Fire and AppleTV. The 14th ceremony of the British Academy Games Awards will take place on April 12th, at Troxy in London. Nominations will be unveiled this Thursday, March 15th. Tim Schafer is to receive the BAFTA Fellowship on the evening.

There’s also a brand new category this year: the Game Beyond Entertainment award, that will "recognise the best game that capitalises on the unique and maturing medium of games to deliver a transformational experience beyond pure entertainment - whether that is to raise awareness through empathy and emotional impact, to engage with real world problems, or to make the world a better place," the official announcement said.
