Dark Souls director Miyazaki becomes From Software president

The man who directed both Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls has been handed the presidency of developer From Software.

Gamasutra reports that Hidetaka Miyazaki, who joined the company in 2004, has been promoted as part of a reshuffle that has also seen Demon’s Souls producer Masanori Takeuchi move into a senior managing director role.

As well as directing both PS3 title Demon’s Souls and its multiformat sequel Dark Souls, Miyazaki also supervised the development of this year’s Dark Souls II.

The changes come after From’s acquisition by Famitsu owner Kadokawa last month.

From is also rumoured to be working on a Sony title currently going under the name Project Beast that some think will be unveiled at E3 as the spiritual successor to Demon’s Souls” – which, unlike Dark Souls, is a Sony IP.
