Deus Ex: Breach and VR Experience now free on Steam

Square Enix and Eidos Montreal have announced that Deus Ex: Breach and the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided VR Experience are now available to download for free on Steam.

Breach was originally included as a separate game mode in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, focusing on short, sharp stealth speed runs in a virtual reality environment that’s been infiltrated by a group of hackers. It took a more arcade-like approach to Deus Ex’s more traditional stealth gameplay, but still featured an extensive upgrade tree and customisable loadouts.

The VR Experience, meanwhile, will be compatible with both the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Players will be able to discover four iconic environments from Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, including Dubai, Golem City, Adam Jensen’s apartment and Talos Rucker’s office, thanks to the power of the game’s Dawn Engine.

The developer and publisher have also announced that the second Story DLC pack for Mankind Divided will launch on February 23rd. Entitled Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – A Criminal Past, the DLC episode will let players experience Adam Jensen’s very first mission for the TF29 taskforce where he poses as a convicted criminal.

Trapped inside a high-security prison for augmented felons, Jensen’s mission is to track down and retrieve sensitive information from another undercover agent TF29’s lost contact with. Players will also be faced with a moral choice at the end of the story, giving Jensen the opportunity to help fight terror around the world or indulge in the darker side of his role in order to get to the truth.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided originally launched on PS4, Xbox One and PC in August 2016. It was the best-selling game of the week when it first released in the UK, but its overall launch sales failed to surpass those of its predecessor, Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
