Deus Ex: Human Revolution delayed

Fans will have to wait a bit longer for the latest Deus Ex title as Square Enix announces it has delayed the upcoming Human Revolution.

The eagerly-awaited prequel was originally due for release in Q1 2011 but has now been pushed back to the publisher’s next financial year, meaning it won’t be on shelves until after April 2011.

Square Enix has delayed that game in order to give it further polish” and focus on development, having seen disappointing sales and public reception to its most recent releases, according to Kotaku.

In a statement, the company said: With weak sales performances of console game titles that have been newly released during the current fiscal year as well as harsh market feedback regarding a key title, the Group recognises the reinforcement of development capability in our digital entertainment segment as our most critical managerial issue.

We therefore have decided to spend additional time to further polish our upcoming game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, resulting in a shift in release timing from our prior plan of the current fiscal year to next fiscal year.”
