Deus Ex Mankind Divided tops UK charts

Square Enix’s latest entry in the Deus Ex series has shot straight to No.1 in the UK.

Mankind Divided, which launched for PS4, Xbox One and PC, did perform worse than the series’ previous entry, 2011’s Human Revolution.

GfK Entertainment speculates that this weaker showing was due in part to Mankind Divided launching earlier in the PS4 and Xbox One’s lifecycle. The firm says the PS3 and 360’s install base was roughly double that of the newer machines.

Last week’s No.1, Codemaster’s F1 2016, drops to second place with a sales decline of 57 per cent week-on-week. Meanwhile, No Man’s Sky falls one place again as sales dip 48 per cent.

Mankind Divided was one of three new games in the Top Ten this week. The second best performing was EA’s Madden NFL 17, which charted in fifth place, while Koei Tecmo’s Attack on Titan title Wings of Freedom debuted at No.10.

Retail promotions helped a number of titles last week. Overwatch saw a sales increase of 68 per cent, while Uncharted 4’s shot up 90 per cent. Meanwhile, Quantum Break rose to No.16 with a 623 per cent increase.

Below is the software Top Ten for the week ending August 27th:
