Some users who purchased digital copies of Far Cry 4 from certain key resellers are logging in to Uplay to discover that their game has been deleted.
Destructoid reports that a number of Reddit and Ubisoft forum users are complaining that the game has simply vanished from their Uplay PC games library.
The common theme seems to be that these games were purchased from key resellers. Such keys typically come from official products, but the retailers in question are not ‘officially' licensed to sell the keys in that form.
G2Play and G2A customers seem to be affected. Indeed, publisher Devolver Digital has previously said that it would cancel keys sold via G2Play.
The site was last year embroiled in controversy when it was discovered, along with the likes of Kinguin and Fast2Play, to be selling keys obtained for pittance via the charity Humble Bundle.
Retailers last year told MCV that key reselling presented a threat to their business, with one anonymous retailer telling MCV that there are some great PC publishers out there trying to do what they can to hinder these unofficial stores”.
Ubisoft has reportedly been telling disgruntled users to contact the retailer from whom the key was purchased from for a refund.
