Disney plans games and movie bundles

Disney Interactive has teamed up with its movie division to launch new video game and DVD movie packs.

The publisher is launching three different sets in the UK on Monday, June 27th.

The first sees animated movie Tangled combined with its Wii counterpart, while cartoon series Phineas and Ferb will come packed with the DS game.

The third sees the Wii game Cars Toon: Mater’s Tall Tales combined with the Cars Toon DVD and the original Cars movie.

That SKU arrives just ahead of the blockbuster movie launch of Cars 2. Disney will also publish a tie-in game for that, which is due in July on 360, PS3, Wii and DS.
Disney’s catalogue manager James Thornby told MCV:

We are continuously looking at ways to take Disney film lovers beyond the movie experience.

In recent years, Disney video games based on feature films or TV shows have focused on enhancing the consumer’s interaction with the property or characters as a whole; we have seen this with new game modes such as ‘Toy Box’ in Toys Story 3.

New product configurations can also make it easier for kids and families to immerse themselves in the world of Cars or Tangled as the content has been brought together as a cost-effective gift package.”

The bundles will be part of Disney’s ‘Summer Magic’ retail promotion which kicks off on June 24th and runs for five weeks.

TV and outdoor advertising will run for three weeks, while retailers will get a range of POS materials.
