E3 2010: EA’s Sports Active gets Kinect-ed

EA has confirmed that a Kinect version of its EA Sports Active 2 game is in development at its Vancouver studio.

The game will be available in North America on November 16th , just days after launch of the Kinect camera, along with the previously announced PlayStation 3, Wii, iPhone and iPod touch version. A similar timeframe is expected for the European roll-out.

Sports Active 2 features a bundled heart rate monitor, wireless tracking, plus a new online hub to track and share workout data – and interoperability with Kinect promises an ‘innovative fitness program’.

All of that might go some way to explain why the bundle will cost some $99 in the US when it launches later this year. UK pricing is not yet known.

"Delivering EA Sports Active 2 on Kinect for Xbox 360 is a natural fit for fitness and the ability to track full body movement will create a fluid workout experience that delivers real results," commented Andrew Wilson, SVP of Worldwide Development at EA Sports.

"It is the perfect complement to our EA Sports Active suite of fitness products and is indicative of our commitment to deliver new experiences for new audiences. We’re excited to expand on the top rated fitness franchise on the market."
