Ubisoft is opposing rival publisher EA’s attempts to trademark ‘Ghost’.
The firm claims that the trademark will ‘cause confusion’ with its Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon franchise, which has a new entry – Wildlands (pictured) – launching this year.
The document indicates that EA attempted to register a Ghost trademark on March 18th 2015. It’s not clear why EA is attempting to get its hands on that trademark, though the firm does have own a developer called Ghost Games.
Thenotice of opposition was filed by Ubisoft against EA on January – thanks NeoGAF.
Ubisoft actually began action against EA in the summer, but has only just published its notice of opposition.
As part of this, Ubisoft makes note of the fact that it has in fact been using the Ghost Recon trademark since November 13th, 2001.
