EA Mobile plans Android push

Electronic Arts will turn its attentions to Android mobile platform following its successes on Apple’s App Store.

The firm will publish a range of titles for Google’s smartphone operating system as it continues to maximise digital revenue opportunities. The firm has in recent times faced challenges in the traditional retail space.

EA has already published some of its titles to the Android platform, including App Store chart topper Need for Speed Shift.

Expanding our world-class franchises onto the emerging Android marketplace brings our popular, award-winning games to more phones, more carriers and ultimately, more consumers,” said Adam Sussman, VP of worldwide publishing for EA Mobile.

Electronic Arts recently claimed that the global mobile games market will be worth $3.4 billion this year, rising to $4.5 billion in 2013.
