EA reneges on Origin block policy

Users who have been banned from EA’s Origin network will now be able to access the single player content of any games on their account.

That’s after EA decided to review the terms and conditions of its Origin user agreement.

Previously any ban from origin resulted in account holders being blocked not only from online multiplayer but also from any single player games. Banned players will still be blocked from accessing multiplayer gameplay.

Bans are typically implemented for abusive behaviour or cheating online and can be either temporary or permanent.

"If you find yourself with a disabled account note that you can still play EA games in single-player mode,” a statement confirmed.

For PC games you will need to enable Origin’s offline mode to play games with a disabled account. Go to the settings tab in Origin (the gear icon) and select Go Offline."
