Gamer Network’s indie-focused event attracted a record number of independent developers

EGX Rezzed 2018 saw the highest number of industry attendees in its history, reports. The Gamer Network event, which took place from April 13th to April 15th, attracted over 1,500 games industry professionals.

2018 marked the second year of the business networking service Meet the Indies, which seeks to unite independent developers with publishers and investors. This year saw over 115 companies taking part in the three day event, holding almost 250 meetings.

Gamer Events MD David Lilley celebrated the event’s success, saying: "We are very proud to say that this was the best ever EGX Rezzed. That's not just us saying that, but all the feedback we received from attendees via the exit survey was glowing, with visitors highlighting the range of games, the atmosphere, and the venue for extra praise. EGX Rezzed is a credit to the UK games business and everyone who came together to show their games and meet the public."

This year’s Rezzed also included gameplay debuts for upcoming titles such as Phoenix Point, Cultist Simulator, Onrush and Mavericks: Proving Point. The event also included a career retrospective from famed game designer and Double Fine founder Tim Schafer.

Rezzed 2018 saw a strong showing of interesting indie titles, including Useful Slug’s Hipster Cafe, Frogwares’ The Sinking City and Winter Hall - which developer Lost Forest Games describe as “Gone Home meets Quantum Leap.”
