ELEAGUE debuts on TBS, brings in over 500,000 viewers

ELEAGUE, the $1.4 million Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competition, hit US TV network TBS for the first time on Friday and averaged 509,000 total viewers.

According to ELEAGUE’S official stats, the show was the second most discussed program of the night on Twitter, with over 710 million impressions on the social network during the first week, and 360 million on just Friday night. The ELEAGUE social network accounts on Twitter and Facebook managed to bring in 27 million impressions during the first week of the competition.

Unsurprisingly ELEAGE was the most popular channel on Twitch during its first week, bringing in a peak viewership of more than 92,000 concurrent streams and averaging around 50,000. Over the entirety of the first week there was more than 4.3 million video starts on the ELEAGUE Twitch channel. In total ELEAGUE generated more than 150 million minutes of video consumption across Twitch and TBS.

The viewer numbers for the TBS broadcast are a good start for the competition, despite PCGamesN reporting that reruns of The Big Bang Theory that aired in the same Friday night slot the week before, outperformed ELEAGUE considerably. While CS:GO may not be able to compete with Sheldon and co, it did outperform Heroes of the Dorm, which aired on ESPN to around 96,000 viewers earlier in the year.

Week two of ELEAGUE sees Group B fight it out for a slot in the finals. G2 Esports, Ninjas in Pyjamas, OpTic Gaming and Selfless Gaming will all be in action, with the first matches of the week starting on Tuesday around 5pm UK time on Twitch.
