Influential retail exec Rob Salter is leaving Tesco on January 1st, 2013, MCV can reveal.
He has worked as the firm’s category director for media and entertainment for four and a half years, overseeing the supermarket chain’s music, movies and video games offer. Tesco has yet to announce who his replacement will be.
Salter joined Tesco in 2007 from EUK. In his 20 year entertainment retail career he has held roles at Woolworths, Handleman and Blueprint.
In his time at Tesco, Salter has been a advocate for changing how physical entertainment is sold into stores, and has suggested that users should be buying ‘licences’ rather than ‘discs’, even suggesting that users that buy FIFA on PS3 should have the rights to the 360 version.
